The Veils now have a twitter. It is a joint twitter, so you can have a whale of a time working out whether it’s me or Finn writing the tweet, until we have a massive public bickering session and it becomes all too clear.
It’s @FinnSophVeils, of course.
We’ve just begun rehearsing the new songs in Finn’s living room. Current contenders include:
The Pearl
Through the Deep, Dark Wood
Swimming with the Crocodiles
Candy Apple Red
Dancing with the Tornado
Summer & Smoke
Out From the Valley & Into the Stars
Birds
Train with No Name
Iodine & Iron
Another Night on Earth
In with the Oracles
We’re looking to start recording around November, we will let you all know when there’s more to report.

WRITING UPDATE
July 21st, 2011
We’re attempting to avoid a Sun Gangs-esque writing-whilst-touring fiasco so tour plans have been put on hold until after the writing is done.
Though it is still hard to say when exactly we’ll be ready to go into the studio, the album has begun to take shape over the past few weeks.
I won’t try to describe what it sounds like as I’ll just come off sounding like a dick.
But it’s good, I think. I think this time it’s really good.
Song titles so far include:
Train with No Name
Swimming with the Crocodiles
First Taste
Through the Deep, Dark Wood
Candy Apple Red
My Lotus Flower & Me
All Bright Meadows
Who Says You’re Not Made For These Times
In with The Oracles

Dear all,
we are pleased to announce that our new EP will finally be hitting shelves, both physical and digital, on January 24th 2011. After almost 9 years on Rough Trade we’ve now set up our own record label Pitch Beast Records as somewhat of an experiment in DIY music distribution. Pitch Beast is the term given to animals used in advertising campaigns, like that Labrador puppy who sells toilet paper. Anyway it seemed appropriate. The 6 songs were recorded at home and produced by Bernard Butler and Finn.
We’d be much obliged if you’d pre order your CD on www.theveils.com. You’ll receive bonus track Iodine and Iron for your troubles which will not be on the digital release.
Here’s the finished tracklist:
1. Bloom
2. Don’t Let The Same Bee Sting You Twice
3. The Stars Came Out Once The Lights Went Out
4. The Wishbone
5. Grey Lynn Park
6. Us Godless Teenagers
7. Iodine and Iron (Bonus Track)
Fingers crossed huh.
Your friends
Veils x
